The Utah Citizenship Initiative, led by the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity’s Center for Immigration & Integration, is a three-pronged approach to promote, educate, and connect on naturalization and citizenship preparation to reduce barriers preventing LPRs from accessing legal services and applying for citizenship. This initiative will promote greater civic participation and engagement among naturalized citizens in rural communities and strengthen social cohesion and integration between immigrants and the broader community. This innovative approach seeks to provide a road map for other states to follow to increase the rates of naturalization utilizing a hybrid model of virtual citizenship education classes, coupled with naturalization legal services. 18
