Queens Borough Public Library proposes an innovative citizenship education program that addresses the specific barriers faced by mothers and working individuals who are seeking citizenship instruction. Queens Borough Public Library’s planned innovation is an integration of multiple program components to increase eligible legal permanent residents’ access, retention, and success in a citizenship education program. These components are childcare support, a digital literacy bootcamp, hybrid learning with flexibly scheduled in-person classes, a project- based curriculum, and case management support. Queens Borough Public Library will research, develop, and test a mix of program components as part of a pilot citizenship instruction program over the two-year grant period.
