Boat People SOS-Houston (BPSOS-Houston) has provided citizenship and English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction since 2009 through the Citizenship Initiative for Vietnamese Immigrant Communities (CIVIC) program. CIVIC aims to help Vietnamese and other LPRs overcome the multiple barriers to achieve citizenship through a rigorous bilingual curriculum for citizenship instruction and specialized legal expertise for naturalization application assistance. With USCIS FY 2024 funding, BPSOS-Houston will provide citizenship instruction to 200 LPRs, administer naturalization eligibility screenings to 200 LPRs, and file 200 Forms N-400 and G-28.
