About
A recipient of the USCIS grants since FY 2010, Montgomery College has offered citizenship services since 2000. This proposed Citizenship Preparation Program will provide citizenship instruction and naturalization legal services to low and high beginning, and low intermediate English level LPRs. Anticipated outcomes include 320 eligible non-duplicated LPRs enrolled in grant-funded instruction, 320 LPRs who will receive naturalization eligibility screening, and 240 LPRs who will submit Forms N-400 and G-28. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., will serve as the sub-awardee. Additional programmatic goals include integration into the community, outreach, and N-400 workshop participation. The program will work with local libraries and Community Engagement Centers to enhance the community’s knowledge of naturalization services available through Montgomery College and USCIS.
