About
Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota (LSSSD) has been providing citizenship education since 2010 and immigration legal services since 1994. With FY 2024 grant funding, LSSSD will primarily service Sioux Falls, Yankton, and Aberdeen, South Dakota and surrounding areas. These cities have all experienced significant growth in the number of residents who are not U.S. Citizens. Naturalization Services may also be provided for individuals in other areas of South Dakota, as well as neighboring communities in southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa. The primary countries of origin of LPRs to be served by LSSSD are Liberia, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burma, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Philippines, Ukraine, Bosnia, Iraq, Mexico, Cuba, Canada, and other Central American, Southern American and European countries. With USCIS FY 2024 funding, LSSSD will provide citizenship instruction to 220 LPRs, administer naturalization eligibility screenings to 500 LPRs, and file 250 Forms N-400 and G-28.
