About

Literacy Council of Montgomery County (LCMC) is partnering with CASA de Maryland (CASA) to provide citizenship preparation services, primarily to Latino, Chinese, and Ethiopian communities in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. LCMC offers multi-level citizenship classes to prepare learners with the English language skills and U.S. civics, history, and government knowledge needed for the naturalization test. CASA provides valuable wraparound services, such as case management, immigrant integration service referrals, and naturalization application services. FY 2022 is the first year that LCMC has been awarded a USCIS grant. With USCIS FY 2022 funding, LCMC and CASA will provide citizenship instruction to 300 LPRs, administer naturalization eligibility screenings to 200 LPRs, and file 200 Forms N-400 and G-28.
